Jasenovac is a peaceful place and the seat of the municipality in Sisak-Moslavina county in Croatia. Susak is a unique sandy island in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar county in Croatia. It is located in the Kvarner bay about 8 kilometers south-west of the island of Lošinj. Susak has about 150 permanent residents. Geology of Susak is different from other Croatian islands, and it is unique because it is mainly formed of fine yellowish sand laid on limestone rocks. Susak was first mentioned in the 9th century as Sansegus, although it was inhabited before the Christ. It was first inhabited by Illyrians and after them by the Romans. There are remains of old Roman defense tower on the highest peak of the island. In the 10th century on the island of Susak came Benedictines, who built a monastery here, which was in use until the 18th century. Barbat and Banjol are two smaller places in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County in Croatia. Kanfanar (Canfanaro) is a small village and the seat of the municipality in the western part of the Istrian peninsula. Kanfanar was first mentioned in the 11th century, and became a municipal center only at the beginning of the 18th century, after its entire history was under the administration of the medieval town of Dvigrad. Kanfanar flourished at the end of the 19th century with the construction of the railway to Pula and the branch to Rovinj, and became an important traffic hub. Funtana is a small tourist town and municipality in the county of Istria in Croatia. It is situated in the central part of the West coast of Istria, just 6 kilometers south of Poreč. Vela Luka is a small town and seat of the eponymous municipality in the Dubrovnik-Neretva County.
